In 1992 co-founders Susan Cedar and Sue Johnson saw the need for a new kind of early childhood center in Phoenix and created The Family School. We are unique in serving a diverse community of 70 children and their families with a comprehensive program that includes:
A. The highest quality policies and practices based on the standards, criteria and accreditation of the National Association for the Education of Young Children NAEYC
B. Before-school and after-school child care for enrolled children
C. Special education, play therapy and counseling as needed for all our children and families.
The Family School is more than a preschool and kindergarten – it is an early childhood center, a community, dedicated to strong children and strong families.

If you are new to our school, we suggest the details on Our Families pages and on the About Us pages where you’ll find more about our whole child/whole family philosophy, read some stories about our early childhood community and find out more about our staff and board.
To help us continue to serve our students and families who need assistance, please consider how you might join this community. You’ll find ways to participate at the Support Us tab.
